A fully supported version of the HTML5 client is released with vSphere 6.5, and the official name will be vSphere Client.  We won't be renaming this Fling, but may start saying things like 'vSphere Client Fling' in addition to the other terms we've used before. Fling features are not guaranteed to be implemented into the product.

Added the IPTables no good

I do have an external PSC could that be an issue

Mar 31, 2016

Can you paste the errors you get when running the configure command?

Also make sure you're putting in your VC IP, not the PSC IP. We've definitely had people get it working with external PSC before.

Works great with VCSA! So fast! Really looking forward to a full release to replace the java. Are there any plans for this?

Mar 31, 2016

Do you mean the java that's running server side? We don't have any java running client side.

Mar 31, 2016

Sorry, I mean flash ofc. Same contempt for both.

Mar 31, 2016

"Full release" can mean a lot of things. We'll keep adding features to this Fling as we go, as long as customers are happy with it.

If the question is "when will it be a supported release" I can't really say in this kind of forum, but we're talking about it.

Apr 01, 2016

With "full release" I mean just as you say, a supported release with the same functions as the flash client, or at least as the vpxclient, such as all the "basics" like adding a vdPortGroup etc.

As I said, really looking forward to it. Keep up the good work!

Very Interested to see if this now allows me to use an iPad to manage vCenter.

The lack of Java on iPads meant I always had to RDP to a Windows VM in order to manage vCenter.

vCenter is one of the main reasons I cant use an iPad pro as a laptop replacement.

Please can the Devs also consider doing testing from iPads. Thank You.

Mar 31, 2016

Tried it - not optimised the best on iPad.

Also Open Console doesn't work on iPad.

Devs - Do you think it would be possible to get this working for an iPad?

Mar 31, 2016

What behavior do you get? Does the new browser tab open at all?

I just asked the PM for this (VMRC/WebMKS is owned by a different PM). She said that "Mobile Watchlist" (available on App Store) uses the same technology, and users on iPhone 6 (some version of IOS) were reporting that it wasn't working, so it's possible that Apple's recent IOS versions are not supporting WebMKS properly.

If you try Mobile Watchlist and it does work, then we may have a problem in H5client somewhere. If Mobile Watchlist doesn't work, then we have a different problem.

If you're able to try this out and let me know what happens, then we can figure out how to proceed.

Apr 13, 2016

Also when you try to connect to a console with Mobile watchlist you get the error:-

Unable to Connect - Interactive console connections to vCenter v6 are not yet supported in this version.

It looks like the Mobile Watchlist app hasn't been updated for a long time as the resolution on an ipad is terrible

Apr 13, 2016

Thanks for the testing! I don't know if we definitely will or will not support the VM console (either one) on mobile, but the customer feedback is really important to us for prioritizing.

Apr 13, 2016

The only browser that I can get to open a console window on an iPad is the Opera browser. However there is no keyboard apart from the function keys making it unusable.

I had no luck at all with Chrome, Safari or Firefox. New tabs do open (if you enable pop-ups) but no console is displayed.

Please can you do some iPad testing. We would love to be able to fully support vCenter from our iPads - especially now the iPad pro is available.

Jun 24, 2016

The version 1.11.... is now working on ipad with safari.
Status bar is not refreshing, but for exmple shutdown and poweron is working.
Really nice would be also the ability to open console also with default browser.
As missing a VMWare app I would really appreciate compatibility to mobile devices.

Really love the feedback button in the interface and that you can add a screenshot and mark it. All products should have that !!!

Agree! :) Hoping other folks also find this useful.
