Jay, can you check the times on the vCenter and on the H5client appliance? The only similar error I've found were related to the time settings mismatching.
If that doesn't do it, please email me (my email is in one of the posts below, search for vmware.com) and let me know more about your setup (vCenter build number, embedded/external) and we can do more debugging over email.

But can you try something else for me?
On the H5client appliance:
1) edit "/etc/vmware/vsphere-client/vsphere-client/webclient.properties" by changing any domain name references to the VC IP address (probably only present in the "cm.url" entry)
For example: cm.url=https://mydomainname.com/cm/sdk/
Becomes: cm.url=https://xx.xx.xx.xx/cm/sdk/
2) restart the webserver by running command: /etc/init.d/vsphere-client restart
Can you paste the errors you get when running the configure command?
Also make sure you're putting in your VC IP, not the PSC IP. We've definitely had people get it working with external PSC before.
