I couldn't get it to work with the -d switch, -v worked. All looks great on a StarTech USB 3.0 to Dual Port Gigabit Ethernet Adapter on an Intel NUC.

Hi vitalsign0,

Were you able to get the Startech nic's to persist and function after reboot?

Feb 13, 2019

It should be -d as its an offline bundle that's being installed. When we had first published, we had posted the wrong file which was the VIB and we've corrected that including the instructions

Perfect timing, I just built my NUC lab using the new VIB. I have a mix of Realtek and Assix based USB to Gig network adapters from StarTech. I have not added the vswitch persistence yet as I am building out my DVS. Any idea if this will work with the N-VDS in NSX-T? Three Cheers!

Let me the first to congratulate William and Songtao for this great driver! Really good to see some official USB NIC drivers.

Thanks! Let us know what you end up doing with USB NICs w/ESXi

I've just installed 6.7U1 on a NUC8i7HNK (thanks Intel for fixing the BIOS) and added 2 StarTech Dual Ports, bringing the total number of gigabit ports to 6. 4 USB NICs. Nice!

This box will be used for tests and act as a backup (with NICs to spare) for my homelab (Sumpermicro SYS-E200-8D) that has 4 NICs. Time to ditch my old i7 desktop (huge)!

Now I can start to change my setup to use multiple paths/networks to the storage boxes. My issue now is that the AX88179 cannot handle a full 9000 bytes Jumbo Frame (chipset limitation - only up to 4K).

Anyone knows of if any of the other supported chipsets have full Jumbo Frame?

To answer my own question, seems that the RTL8153 will support 9K jumbo frames. Can someone that has one check if the combination driver/adapter do handle a 9K jumbo frame?

Same here with my Lenovo RTL8153.

I checked a bit online with some other 3rd party modules with the same issue described - and since I'm not that technical I could share the article with a similar problem that seemed interesting to look into:

From this theory above I was unable to set any option parameter to the module's related Service Console Commands

Hope Song Tao or William could help explain how packaging options works. :-)

By "packaging options" I meant the ESXCLI Module Commands pipe to set options for the specific module, as solution reference in the first link above. Sorry for the confusion. :)

I have been unable to set an MTU to anything other than 1500 on the RTL8153 (
