    #30 aqc111u no 5G/2.5G speed ESXi7

    Sep 09, 2020

ON ESXi 7, AQC111u based card is showing and working at 1G speed when in "Auto" mode while at PHY layer, it connects to the switch at 5G speed.

The dropdown for manually switching the speed only showing up to 1000 speeds. If you force port speed to 2500 on the switch side, ESXi UI show link speed as 2500 and it works faster than when connected at 5G speed.

Could you please update AQC111u driver in the package? Synology works fine with Linux driver and the same adapter.

I see the same thing like “elter” above.

I'm seeing the same thing as well.

Just tested with 7.0.1 and the 1.7 Fling and this issue is still present. The NIC shows up and will link, but only at 1000/Full

    Same behaviour with 6.7 U3 with a Startech US5GA30.

ESXi build 17168206, same issue with a Startech US5GA30. In Windows 10 autonegotiation works fine when connected to 1/2.5/5 and 10 Gb ports. With ESXi negotiation seems fine for 1 and 2.5 Gb/ When connected to a 5 or 10 Gb switch port ESXi reports 1 Gb, the switch 5 Gb. Setting the switch port at a fixed speed doesn't help. I also cannot select 5 Gb in ESXi, it just isn't there.

Same issue with 7.0 and AQC111u. Works at 5gbE in windows.

I returned the Sabrent 5gbE adapter (NT-SS5G) and bought the QNAP (QNA-UC5G1T) and get full 5gbE!

So, is this a firmware issue then? Startech isn't posting any firmware updates on their site and even the Windows driver version is an old one. No firmware updates on Marvell's site either but I think I read somewhere that QNAP had a firmware update for their NICs.

That being said, performance of the US5GA30 on Windows 10 isn't stellar and my wireless keyboard and mouse don't work very well when one of these dongles is connected. It seems there are quite a few issues with these things.

QNAP's does have a firmware update but I updated it before testing anything. It's hard to say where the issue is but I had great performance in Windows with the Sabrent adapter with USB 3.2 Gen 2. Its very unfortunate that this issue exists since the Sabrent seems like a higher quality build and is cheaper than all the other alternatives. That said, all I had to do was unplug the Sabrent and plug in the QNAP (no reboot or anything, same driver, cable, sfp+ rj45 adapter) and got instant 5GbE in ESXi. I also see the speed listing for 5000mbps and 2500mbps in the drop down as well which was missing from the Sabrent adapter.

Does anyone know how to find the firmware version in Windows or ESXi ?

Running into trouble with the Startech US5GA30. Seeing speed at 1000Mbps (two adapters with direct connect/crossover cable). Also seeing loss of connectivity at high throughput, only been able to restore connectivity by rebooting the ESXi host.
