I am able to see the clock /dev/ptp0 assigned by the VMware into ubuntu VM but the rpm package gives error below

I have actually tried the ptp_vmw driver included in RedHat 8.4 on a VM running on ESXi 7.0.2 (on a HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server), but in this specific setup for some reason chrony would register an offset of 500us, meaning it performed worse than network based servers when using iburst and xleave.

I tried the module published here in hopes it would improve, but the only thing I could observe at a glance was the registration/unregistration messages becoming more verbose.
