Ubuntu OVA for Horizon is a pre-packaged OVA built on Ubuntu that automates the configuration needed for a Linux Desktop Template to be used in a VMware Horizon 7 environment.
Hi.. Great thing. Any chance this will also work with Horizon 6.x. untested of course but possible ?
Thanks for the interest! Unfortunately Ubuntu 16.04 isn't compatible with Horizon 6 with known issues. If planning to use Horizon for Linux, it is strongly recommended to move to Horizon 7.
Great! I'm giving this a try. Already deployed the OVA and created a Desktop Pool. I can't log in with AD credentials... is there any other step required?
Did the golden image join the domain successfully after running the script? If so then likely your clones need re-joining the domain after cloning (http://pubs.vmware.com/horizon-7-view/topic/com.vmware.horizon-view.linuxdesktops703.doc/GUID-D8E3A4AA-83E9-46A4-8BBA-824027146E93.html)
Why do you use http://packages.vmware.com/packages/ubuntu precise main for Ubuntu 16.04? Why not distro-independent or trusty?
If it is because of open-vm-tools-deploypkg for trusty and guest customizations, it works without in 16.04.
During RC builds this image was based on Ubuntu 14.04 hence that configuration. The next update will use Ubuntu repository. Thanks for the feedback!
Think your pictures are confused on the first page BTW.. The dark one is Metacity, the one with the Foot is Mate :)
