Hello,

is there a way this migrated application can be auto provision to end users, without manual assign.... we have about 300 applications and migrating this huge application list going to be very long process.

Hello,

Thanks for trying our migration utility. As of now, auto provision to users is not supported after migration of appstacks.

Thanks,
-Mani.

My first post.

playing with appvolumes 4 in test.
All seems to be working as normal but using this tool to convert 2.x apps to 4.0 seems to not be working.

Yes i have read 100 times the instructions with no success.

Looking at the logs we getting

Commandline: c:\Program Files (x86)\vmware\appcapture\appcapture.exe
Arguments: /Migrate "Application name" /sourcepath "c:\Program Files (x86)\vmware\appcapture\Volumemount\Application name" /o \\servername

So near the bottom of the log
Attaching the migration disk
waiting for disk attachment
disk attachment complete in 0 secs
Error failed to set volumelabel for virtual disk (Error: 0x13)
Error Virtual disk attachment and mount faild {Error: 0x13}
Error program faild in install mode CmdNew (Error: 0x13)

This might be a dumb question but hey its doing my head in

If requirements are "Windows 7 or 10," but the utility cannot migrate AppStacks that were created on Windows 8/8.1 or Windows Server (any version), how can those be migrated?
After finishing a migration, what is the most appropriate way to move/copy them to the proper datastore? I've tried several methods (including using vCenter to upload), and while the files are copied, App Volumes Manager is unable to import anything.

Hello Jim,
The workstation vmdk after migration needs to be copied to the AVM and then "Upload Prepackaged Volume" option in the AVM needs to be used to move it to the datastore. These are covered in the instructions document.
Thanks,
-Mani.

I understand, but what if my Configuration->Storage page doesn't have "Upload Prepackaged Volume" as an option, only "Upload Templates" and "Rescan"?

Jan 21, 2020

Hello Jim,

Please use "Upload Templates" to upload the migrated appstacks, no explicit import is needed, this process takes care of it. You should see the appstacks appearing in the 4.0 AVM. We will update the docs as well. Let us know if you still face any issues.

Thanks,
-Mani.
